Amazon Tree DiversityNetwork |
| |
The Amazon Tree Diversity Network is a loose electronic network of botanists, ecologists and taxonomists that share data and information on tree diversity in the pan-Amazon (Amazonia and the Guyana Shield). Our drive is to gain an understanding in the patterns of alfa- and beta-diversity in the region and through this knowledge contribute to better conservation strategies for the region. Currently we work with data from botanical 1-ha plots (and sometimes different sizes), forest inventories, and herbarium collections. |

CONABIO |
| |

Centres of Plant Diversity |
| |
This website is part of a three-volume work that contains accounts of nearly 250 major sites for conservation of plant diversity worldwide. Volume 1 covers Europe, the Atlantic Islands, Africa and the islands of the Western Indian Ocean, South West Asia and the Middle East. Volume 2 is concerned with the rest of Asia, Australia and the Pacific Islands. Volume 3, whose web version is presented here, deals with the Americas, and contains six sites in North America, 20 in Middle America, 46 in South America, and three in the Caribbean. This web version of the printed volume contains all the same material, with an easy-to-use search engine and additional pictures. |

Embrapa |
| |

Sustainable Harvest International |
| |
Since 1997, SHI has expanded its reach from the one program in Honduras to also include programs in Panamá, Belize and, most recently, Nicaragua. SHI recently established La Fundacion Cosecha Sostenible Honduras (the Sustainable Harvest Honduras Foundation) as an independent affiliate. After a transition period, that pilot program will become responsible for its own management and funding. SHI thus facilitates implementation of a program that allows poor farmers to take responsibility for reversing environmental degradation and achieving economic viability within their own countries. |
